1. Malpensa Airport
Stay
About the destination: Milan–Malpensa Airport, formerly City of Busto Arsizio Airport,[4][5] is the largest international airport for the Milan metropolitan area in northern Italy. It serves 15 million inhabitants in Lombardy, Piedmont and Liguria. The airport is located 49 kilometres (30 mi) northwest[6] of central Milan, next to the Ticino river (dividing Lombardy and Piedmont). The airport has two terminals and two runways as well as a dedicated cargo terminal. In 2016, Malpensa Airport handled 19,320,546 passengers[3] and was the 29th busiest airport in Europe in terms of passengers. Until 2008, Malpensa Airport was a major hub for flag carrier Alitalia. Malpensa Airport remains the second busiest Italian airport for international passenger traffic (after Rome Fiumicino Airport), and first busiest for freight and cargo. It handles over 500,000 tons of international freight annually. The first industrial airport was opened in 1909 near the Cascina Malpensa, an old farm, by Giovanni Agusta and Gianni Caproni to test their aircraft prototypes. This airport was then opened for civil operation in 1948 during the war reconstruction period, in order to serve the northern area of Milan.

2. Funchal, Madeira
Stay
About the destination: When you get to Funchal you are amazed by its immensity. Houses and more houses rise up from the sea covering the entire natural amphitheatre which is Funchal. It is the major commercial, tourist and cultural centre of the island of Madeira. La Zona Velha, the city’s old town, still maintains a vibrant local life of its own and it is the trendiest place on the island. To stroll through the narrow cobbled streets with some intriguing little museums, shops and cafes and a salty old port area is a real delight. At night the neighbourhood comes alive. The restaurants are packed to the gills and St. Mary Street becomes the meeting point for young people ready to have a good time. To enjoy the island’s wonderful flora, you don’t need to leave Funchal. In the outskirts of the city we find some glorious gardens such as the Jardim Botânico, Quinta da Boa Vista, Palheiro Gardens and Monte Palace Tropical Gardens, reached by cable car from Funchal centre. Some other interesting things to do and visit are: The Mercado dos Lavradores, a very colourful market of fresh products and handicrafts; the 15th-century cathedral; Quinta das Cruzes and the Adegas São Francisco wine cellars. There are lots of reasons to like the bustling port city, that despite being tiny, it has a lot to offer.

4. Tirana
Stop
