Beautiful architecture, extensive history, and amazing food! Florence is a dream come true!
Wondering what to visit in Florence ?
Keep reading what we, as travel agents suggest for you:
1-Florence Cathedral
The Cattredrale di Santa Maria del Fiore is the one spot you must-see when you are in town. The outstanding medieval complex is the third-largest church in Italy and famous for its multi-colored marble exteriors.
The exterior is covered in a decorative mix of pink, white and green marble. The interior, by contrast, is pretty stark and plain but quite enjoyable on warm summer days since the temperature inside tends to be cooler. The mosaic pavements are certainly its main attraction within, which you can see in the photo above, aren’t they spectacular? They look like mosaic carpets.
2-Uffizi Gallery
The Uffizi Gallery is my personal favorite place in Florence. The former seat of the city magistrate is now home to one of the finest collections of art on this planet. Leonardo Da Vinci, Botticelli, Michaelangelo – the list of the world-famous artists on display in the venerable halls of the museum is as long as illustrious. You will also be able to see the outstanding collection of Roman sculptures of the Medici family on the upper floor. The museum is organized as a long labyrinth of rooms with amazing works of art displayed roughly in chronological order along a U-shaped Renaissance building which was never created to be a museum.
3- Palazzo Vecchio
The Palazzo Vecchio in the center of Florence. Palazzo Vecchio offers Roman ruins, a Medieval fortress and amazing Renaissance chambers and paintings. A microcosm where art and history have been indissolubly bound for centuries.
The town hall of Florence should definitely be on your list of things to do in Florence. From the top of the 94-meter high tower, you will be able to enjoy the best view in the city. I suggest you discover the links with these symbolic animals at sunset, reaching the top of the tower to enjoy an unforgettable view over the red tiled roofs of Florence! Have a fun visit!
4-Piazza Della Signoria
It’s an L-shaped square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy. It was named after the Palazzo della Signoria, also called Palazzo Vecchio. It is the main point of the origin and history of the Florentine Republic and still maintains its reputation as the political focus of the city. Piazza Della Signoria is the main square in Florence and offers a well-rounded view of the immense political and artistic presence of this Renaissance city. It is the meeting place of Florentines as well as the numerous tourists.
5-Food in Florence
Florence, which is in the region of Tuscany, has a medieval history that influences the traditional staples of Florentine and Tuscan cuisine. Another factor that affects the cuisine are the local ingredients like tomatoes, rosemary, porcini mushrooms, truffle mushrooms, olives, aubergines, oregano, basil, and a few varieties of meat, cheese, and bread.
